How difficult is it to enter into a professional symphony orchestra?
As symphonies State. Or even something like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. What is this process? I play the viola, guitar and bass.
It really depends on the orchestra. For example, an audition for an orchestra that is low more or less free time is not really a problem. Auditions for an orchestra of high level is hard work and talent. For these (and the Orchestra of Philadelphia or something like that) your resume will be reviewed to see if you qualify for a hearing. If given a hearing, there are several rounds of auditions, each more competitive than before, and was asked to play their scales, arpeggios, etc without problems. You will also receive a list of excerpts from the studio orchestra (the list is virtually unchanged in orchestras good), since you will be asked to make specific statements. Many times in every turn is blind to the end, which means that judges can not see a future member of the orchestra. Sometimes as many as 800 people to submit their resumes in hopes of gaining an audience, but perhaps only 200 get a hearing. These 200 people (of all hearings to the same place) can be transformed into 100, then maybe 50, maybe 30, maybe 10, then May 3 is the final round. Even if you can read most of his audience quite flawless (and flawless always), there is no guarantee of employment. Many musicians in search of an orchestra simply register hearings anywhere with an empty seat in the hope they could for a job. And like I said, is another matter altogether less prestigious orchestras. Some orchestras even leisure No hearing people. Note that the orchestras with general names are not necessary the best of the best, something like "Symphony and the Northwest" is not necessarily better than the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis, although it seems that unless the land around the northwest (I just made these names, so I could be completely wrong, no offense to anyone).
